Stirring Up The Past

Stirring Up The Past is an exciting new project for Key Stage 2 that has strong links to SMSC, PSHE and Local History Study. The Blahs have worked in partnership the Leeds Discovery Centre – a state of the art museum and gallery storage facility with over a million objects of educational and cultural significance. In partnership with Leeds Museums, Jael Williams Consultants and a group of local teachers, we have created ‘Stirring Up The Past: The Shabti’s Story’ classroom resources  that are hosted for free on the My Learning site.

We would like to invite you to the online launch of these new and free to access multimedia classroom resources for Key Stage 2.

This collection of resources includes films, audio stories, teachers notes and classroom activities charting the journey of a single ancient Egyptian artefact all the way from the Valley of the Kings to the Leeds Museums’ Collections.

The resources are designed for Key Stage 2 with strong links across the curriculum, including to History, English, Maths, Science, Geography, Art, SMSC and PSHE.  The resources will be hosted on MyLearning – an online platform that has a variety of trusted learning materials from cultural and heritage organisations across the UK

This is an invitation for teachers and school staff to join us for the online launch (via Zoom) on Tuesday 13th July from 4pm – 5.15pm.  Through the launch you will get:

  • A detailed preview of, and free access to all the resources to use in your classroom
  • The opportunity to put questions to the team who have created the resources
  • An introduction to the MyLearning platform and tips and strategies around using digital resources

To register for this free online event please email by Friday 9th July.

We hope you can join us!
