Stirring Up The Past

Stirring Up The Past is an exciting new project for Key Stage 2 that has strong links to SMSC, PSHE and Local History Study. The Blahs will work in partnership the Leeds Discovery Centre – a state of the art museum and gallery storage facility with over a million objects of educational and cultural significance. We will bring to life the people and events behind parts of their collection, using film, text and sound to create engaging online, interactive learning tools, that will be hosted for free on the My Learning site.

We want to make sure these resources are tailored, relevant and accessible for schools… and for this we need you! We’re looking for key stage 2 teachers to bring your expertise to the process to make sure all of the resources are the best they can be.

We will do this by running three themed online twilight sessions starting in November. In return for your feedback, we will offer creative learning activities, techniques and tips to take away and use in your classrooms. We know how busy you are, so you can join us for any, or all of the sessions depending on your availability and interest. Everyone who takes part in the project, in whatever way, will get access to the resources for free and the opportunity to participate in a development session, providing guidance on how to independently use the resources with pupils. The resources will be ready to use in your classrooms from April 2021 onwards.

The first Stirring up the Past session will take place on Zoom on Tuesday 10th November between 4 and 5.30pm. In this we will introduce you to the project and find out a little more about how you are currently using digital resources. In return we will share teacher-friendly ideas and strategies on digital learning.

If you would like to be sent details of how to join us on the 10th November, or if you have any questions about Stirring up the Past, please email deborah@blahs.co.uk
